Duke, along with his sister Dolly, were picked in the summer of 2009 to join the Henderson family on the farm.
They were quickly loved by all and started to learn the ropes by their big brother Milton the basset hound.
A few short months later, Dolly was killed by a car on the road and a year later Milton passed.
Duke became man of the farm and did his job well. He was protector of all things he loved and followed behind dad wherever it was he was going. They spent many hours walking the farm and hanging out in the barn. Duke didn't let dad go alone- anywhere.
Duke was joined in 2016 by his best friend Jake. They were adventurous together and had the time of their lives running that farm!
Duke was a kind and gentle soul. He loved the camaraderie that came with the farm living. He loved the kids and soon the grandkids and loved watching the chickens in the yard. He loved chasing after the 4 wheeler, squirrels and rabbits. He was a magnificent and athletic dog.
Duke moved off the farm in the winter of 2018 and quickly became a lazy house dog. He was joined by several rambunctious goldendoodles and loved them until his final days. They never seemed to be a bother to him even as he struggled with his failing and aging body.
He passed away peacefully at his home on December 17, 2021, at twelve and a half years old.
Duke will hold a special place in our hearts and will forever be missed.
